SEOUL, May 28 (Korea Bizwire) – The new wireless communications technology “Beacon” sheds light on the way to a new generation of mobile services. “Beacon” is a micro-location-based service using Bluetooth 4.0 technology, which can provide a variety of information to a mobile device within its range of service area.
IFFU, a mobile service and accessory company, announced that it will launch a beacon service business with various beacon devices and applications that were developed with its own proprietary technology.
“Smart Exhibition” service is the first offering with its beacon technology, which will be provided for “KITAS 2014,” the IT exposition that will be held in Seoul’s COEX. Smart Exhibition is the first beacon service that will be used for an exhibition.
The exhibition-optimized service that includes a beacon device and an application offers some interesting features to both exhibitors and visitors.
For starters, when a guest approaches the device-installed booth, a matching app will automatically bring up general information of the company onto the screen of the visitor’s smart device. In addition, more detailed information on the exhibitor can be acquired and saved into the smartphone, when the user designates the company as one of interest.
Previously, visitors to trade shows in the past were flooded with myriads of promotional materials that exhibitors handed out as they pass by the booths and a lot of those pamphlets ended up in the waste bin soon afterward.
But IFFU’s new service will now change that and definitely step up in efficiency in promoting for the companies and make expos more enjoyable for the visitors, not to mention it is also an environment-friendly service, since it can save millions of paper-based booklets.
The service also allows exhibitors to give out coupons or advertise their events digitally and for the expo guests, it also enables them to send their digital business cards to an exhibitor if they want to.
The application requires users to register basic personal information when they download information, and the information can be exchanged as a form of digital business card to the beacon-serviced exhibitor.
In contrast to the past, companies won’t have to worry about losing valuable paper-based business cards of their customers and moreover, the audience’s information will be sent to the already-specified data form so that the company can save time to sort the customers by age and gender and so forth afterward and easily utilize the data for marketing purposes.
Such features will help companies to promote their products in more elaborated fashion, and help visitors to conveniently acquire information on the products or companies of their interest.
An official of IFFU said, “As of now, the Smart Exhibition service is pending for a patent. Since its beacon device and the application are built with our proprietary technology, we are able to meet the customer’s demands and needs with more speed and accuracy.”
