INCHON, Nov.12 (Korea Bizwire) – The local government of Incheon has set out to create jobs for the elderly, teaming up with a logistics company.
Incheon’s city government signed an agreement with CJ Korea Express and the Korea Labor Force Development Institute for the Aged to cooperate on carrying forward the ‘Incheon Silver Total Distribution Business’.
The organizations will manage Incheon’s ‘Silver Delivery Service’, which employs elderly workers. The business intends to secure bases for distribution, providing stable workplaces for the elderly and systematic services for customers.
When parcels are delivered to a distribution base, the elderly delivery people classify them and distribute them to residences nearby. Eco-friendly electric carts and electric bicycles are used for the deliveries.
The local government hopes that the Silver Delivery Service will increase the welfare of the elderly and lead to sustainable job creation.
Other than the delivery service, the city is also planning other business models that help to create jobs for the elderly.
