JEJU, Oct. 15 (Korea Bizwire) — Jeju Island will host an eco-themed camping and cooking festival powered entirely by renewable energy from local wind farms, as part of efforts to promote carbon neutrality and sustainable living.

The two-day RE100 Camping & Cook Festa will take place on October 18–19 at the Dongbok and Bukchon wind power complexes in Jeju City, officials announced Monday. The event expands on last year’s inaugural RE100 Camping program, now combined with a new cooking component that emphasizes low-carbon dining.

Around 300 pre-registered participants will spend a night at a campsite run on 100 percent wind-generated electricity. Guests will check in via an electric bus equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, while all lighting and cooking will be powered by renewable energy supplied through electric vehicles and mobile battery storage systems.

This year’s program will feature eco-friendly dining prepared with local ingredients provided by Jeju Dream Tower as part of its social responsibility initiative. Other highlights include the screening of the environmental documentary Signal: The Ocean’s Last Call, a live performance by local band Dandi, and carbon-neutrality quizzes and activities.

Participants can also join a “carbon market,” earning credits through missions and electric bike rides that can be exchanged for products from Jeju-based RE100 companies. Additional activities include guided forest tours in Gotjawal, trekking at Andol Oreum, and family-friendly sustainability workshops.

On October 19, the RE100 Cook Festa will feature 50 family teams using locally sourced eggs, milk, and other eco-friendly ingredients to prepare sustainable dishes. The event will also include ingredient treasure hunts, no-electricity wooden play zones, and upcycling craft sessions, open to the public without advance registration.

The festival is organized by the Jeju Development Corporation, Jeju Tourism Organization, and Jeju Energy Corporation, with support from Hyundai Motor, Woojin Industrial Systems, VPPlab, Jeju Milk, and local community groups.

Jeju Governor Oh Young-hun said the festival represents “a living showcase of clean energy and carbon neutrality,” adding that the province plans to expand the event as a participatory model for energy transition and community cooperation.
