SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Korea Bizwire)Young Koreans, who typically prioritize work-life balance and have gotten used to online life, are avoiding the advertisement, PR and marketing industry.

Online jobs portal Incruit showed that the job competition in the advertisement industry stood at 2.8 to 1 in 2018, after 24,128 applicants flocked to 8,761 job notices.

Between January and October of this year, however, the competition rate dropped to 0.4 to 1.

In the marketing sector, the job competition rate dropped from 2.2 to 1 to 0.4 to 1. In the PR sector, the rate dropped from 2.7 to 1 to 0.6 to 1.

The number of job applications in the marketing industry dropped from 83,292 to 19,332. Those in the PR sector also dropped from 39,485 to 9,067 over the same period.

The advertisement sector often involves night overtime during the presentation or delivery season.

The PR sector involves frequent meetings with clients and other agents, coupled with last-minute requests and business meetings that involve drinking.

Employers have transitioned from periodic to open recruitments, resulting in a higher number of job postings that contributed to less competition.
