SEOUL, June 30 (Korea Bizwire)The Ministry of Justice said Thursday it will extend the validity period of the Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA), the online travel permit system for foreign tourists.

Currently set at two years, the validity period will be extended to three years, effective from Monday.

However, teenagers and elderly individuals will be excluded from the scope of application and will be allowed to enter the country without obtaining a K-ETA in advance.

Nevertheless, if they wish to benefit from advantages such as skipping the step of filling out an arrival card, teenagers and elderly individuals can still choose to apply for a K-ETA.

The K-ETA enables nationals from 112 visa-waiver countries to gain entry permission by submitting their information online prior to departing from their home countries.

It can be used multiple times within the validity period without any restrictions on the number of entries.

The ministry emphasized that this change aims to enhance convenience for foreigners visiting South Korea for extended periods, as they can now rely on a single K-ETA authorization.
