K-Fashion Hits New York Fashion Week

SEOUL, Sept. 7 (Korea Bizwire)Korean fashion designers will showcase their latest designs at New York Fashion Week.

Alongside Milan, London and Paris, New York is considered one of the four capitals of the fashion world. The city’s bi-annual Fashion Week, which opens on September 7, attracts the best and the brightest from all over the globe. 

This year’s “Concept Korea” show will be held at the Skylight Clarkson Sq. in Manhattan, where striking and colorful womenswear by designers Park Yoon Hee of Greedilous and Lee Chung Chung of Lie will be donned by some of the world’s most coveted models.

After three consecutive appearances from 2014 to 2016, Park has returned to the scene with her project “Botanica Exotica” which boasts simple outfits with intense colors and effervescent prints.

First-timer Lee Chung Chung’s project utilizes the arrangement of floral patterns and flowers that serve to embellish the individual beauty of the wearer.

The first Concept Korea show was held in 2010 through the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).

KOCCA plans to open a galleria in Manhattan sometime between January and June next year by building on this year’s Concept Korea shows.

The move is interpreted as a move by the agency to establish a permanent venue in New York for promoting Korean fashion.

The upcoming Fashion Week is expected to attract greater interest on the news that 69-year-old model Maye Musk, the mother of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, will make an appearance on the catwalk.
