SEOUL, Mar. 7 (Korea Bizwire) — K-pop stars continued to grace the prestigious Paris Fashion Week with their presence this year, captivating fans and fashionistas alike.
Popular members of K-pop girl groups were prominent figures throughout the event held in Paris from Feb. 26 to March 5 (Paris time), attending runway shows and hobnobbing with industry titans.
Lisa of BLACKPINK was a star attraction, attending the fashion show of luxury brand Louis Vuitton on the final day of the event.
She shared her photo on social media with the brand’s artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquiere, and a video posted by Louis Vuitton of the rapper attending the show garnered significant online buzz.
Other K-pop stars who joined Lisa at the same show were NewJeans’ Hyein and TWICE’s Nayeon.
BLACKPINK’s Jennie appeared at the Chanel show Tuesday, while Jisoo of the same group turned up at the Dior show on Feb. 27. Their bandmate Rose mingled with British actress Lily Collins at the Saint Laurent show on Feb. 27.
Ive’s Jang Won-young turned heads at Miu Miu on Tuesday, joined by TWICE’s Momo and (G)I-dle’s Minnie.
Giselle of aespa attended the fashion show of Loewe on Friday as an ambassador for the Spanish luxury brand and interacted with its creative director, Jonathan Anderson.
All ITZY members, excluding Lia who is on hiatus, were present at the Courreges show on Feb. 28.
Analysts suggest the large presence of K-pop stars at Paris Fashion Week aligns with the fashion industry’s focus on a younger demographic. They say the immense social media followings of those stars — Lisa boasts 100 million Instagram followers alone — make them attractive brand partners.
K-pop’s global reach and the increasing fluency of idol groups’ members in English are also cited as factors behind the industry’s expanding presence in the international fashion scene. All members of BLACKPINK have no difficulty communicating in English, while stars like Hyein and Jang Won-young are known for their exceptional English skills.
