SEOUL, Feb. 6 (Korea Bizwire) – Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) Ltd. said Friday it has secured a 101.4 billion-won (US$69.1 million) performance-based logistics (PBL) contract from the Philippines to provide long-term maintenance and logistics support for the FA-50PH fighter jets operated by the Philippine Air Force.

Under the three-year contract, KAI will provide maintenance and logistics support for the fighter jets through 2028. The FA-50PH is a modified variant of KAI’s FA-50 jet tailored for the Philippine military.

PBL is considered an advanced logistics support model designed to ensure stable and efficient support throughout an aircraft’s service life of around 30 to 40 years.

The deal follows a prior one-year pilot PBL contract worth about 27 billion won that KAI signed with the Philippines in December 2024.

KAI said the successful execution of the pilot program led to the signing of the latest contract.

The Philippines is one of the key overseas operators of KAI’s FA-50 aircraft. The country initially purchased 12 units of the FA-50PH in 2014 and has ordered an additional 12 units last year.
