SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Korea Bizwire)Kakao Pay announced on Monday that it will be adding a ‘sprinkle’ service using its money-wiring function.

The ‘sprinkle’ service allows a user to share a certain amount of money with their friends in a KakaoTalk chatroom.

The user first selects the number of recipients and the amount of money. When the money is then ‘sprinkled’ into the chatroom, other members can ‘pick up’ the money on a first come, first served basis.

The money will be distributed in random amounts. ‘Sprinkling’ will stop as soon as it reaches the number of recipients set at the beginning.

Kakao Pay will begin a promotion event starting this Thursday and running until December 20 to randomly give out as much as 1 million won (US$900) to 10 people who succeed in sprinkling more than 10,000 won of cash that is picked up by friends within one hour.
