SEOUL, June 16 (Korea Bizwire) – Kakao Corp. will launch a new service called ‘Kakao Game AD+’ next month that should increase the profitability of its game services partners, according to a report released on Thursday, June 15.
Unlike existing free-to-play mobile games that contribute to most of a company’s profit in a mobile game service, Kakao Game AD+ is a new gaming model that includes advertisements within the game for profits to be created and shared.
Once this model is applied, the developer will integrate the advertisement platform through a software development kit (SDK) format for easier advertising and additional profits.
For developers who use Kakao Game AD+, fees will vary depending on the turnover, where fees will be 0% for total sales greater than 30 million won and 7% for total sales between 30 and 35 million won.
The entirety of the new policy will be announced on Kakao Game Center (https://gamecenter.kakao.com) on June 20, where any partners can freely sign up for service.
“Game users who watch the advertisements will be given many tips and advantages for playing the game, and that will attract more players,” said Namgoong Hoon, the director of Kakao’s gaming division.
“Players who don’t spend cash for buying items when playing mobile games will also watch the advertisement, leading to more profits for the developers,” he added.
Kakao Corp. is taking advance reservations for two mobile games, ‘Adoonga for Kakao’ and ‘The Girl, learning emotions for Kakao’ before the official launch of Kakao Game AD+.
