KBS Prepares Special Episodes for ‘Descendants of the Sun’ Fans

SEOUL, March 30 (Korea Bizwire)Major South Korean TV network KBS said Tuesday it has made three special broadcast programs for devoted fans of its sensational drama series “Descendants of the Sun” as the show’s finale draws near.

The programs will air at 10 p.m. for three days from April 20 for the drama’s devoted fans, the broadcaster said.

Watchers will see a compilation of the drama’s major scenes on April 20-21 and a behind-the-scenes program showing the drama’s filming process, with interviews of the cast and crew, on April 22, it said.

Premiering both in Korea and China on Feb. 24, the tale of romance between a South Korean special forces captain and a volunteer doctor in the fictional war-torn country of Uruk is scheduled to end on April 14.

For the new broadcasting schedule, KBS delayed the premier of “Master: God of Noodles,” the following series on the Wednesday-Thursday 10 p.m. time slot, from April 20 to April 27.

“Descendants,” starring actor Song Joong-ki and actress Song Hye-kyo, became the first South Korean drama shown on weeknights to surpass 30 percent in nationwide viewership in four years.

In China, the show has scored over 1.5 billion cumulative views on iQiyi, a Chinese video web platform, of the 10 episodes released so far.

The broadcaster, meanwhile, said Song Joong-ki will make an appearance on the 9 p.m. KBS 1TV news on Wednesday to answer questions from the drama’s watchers.

He will be the first celebrity to appear in the “News 9″ program.

Viewers are required to upload their questions to the website (news.kbs.co.kr), Facebook page (www.facebook.com/KBSnews) or Twitter account (www.twitter.com/KBSnews) of the KBS news program by 4 p.m. Wednesday.’
