KG Mobility’s April Sales Fall 11.4 Pct on Weak Exports

SEOUL, May 2 (Korea Bizwire)KG Mobility Corp., a South Korean carmaker, said Friday its sales dropped sharply from a year earlier in April, mainly due to a decline in exports.

The company sold 8,642 vehicles last month, down 11 percent from 9,751 units sold the same month last year, the company said in a press release.

Domestic sales declined 3.2 percent to 3,546 units, while exports dove 11.5 percent on-year to 5,386.

From January to April, cumulative sales fell 12.4 percent to 34,231 units from 39,077 in the same period last year.

Domestic sales plunged 26 percent to 11,730 units from 15,875 a year ago, while exports inched up slightly to 23,211 from 23,202.

The SUV-focused carmaker’s current lineup consists of 8 models; the Actyon, Tivoli, Korando, Rexton, Torres, all-electric Torres EVX SUV, Musso Sports pickup and Musso EV pickup.

The Torres EVX and Musso EV pickup are equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery system and can travel more than 420 kilometers and 400 kilometers, respectively, on a single charge.
