SEOUL, April 25 (Korea Bizwire) — A WeChat chatroom for apartment residents in Shanghai’s southwestern district of Minhang was recently filled with words of appreciation to their “Korean neighbors.”
The incident came after South Korean food producer Pulmuone Co. gave out free tofu to thousands of households in this apartment complex stricken by a month-long city lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.
It has recently donated 30,000 packages of tofu to a number of apartment complexes in the district, which is home to many Koreans. The tofu was evenly distributed to all households, regardless of the nationality of the residents.
The company also sent some 3,000 packages of tofu to Shanghai’s Pudong New Area, as well as 2,000 packs of packaged traditional chicken soup, or “samgyetang,” to Korean residents and students in the city.
