SEOUL, Oct. 4 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. hosted the final round of a K-food cooking contest in Los Angeles last week.
A panel of judges comprised of six chefs currently running restaurants in Los Angeles and New York have been evaluating the competitors.
Finalist Hector De Haro from Glendale wowed the judges with his Kimchi Poseidon Waffle.
The waffle was served with a specially-made “ssamjang,” a Korean dipping sauce, and “makgeolli,” a traditional grain-based alcoholic drink.
Latesha James, a finalist from Alexandria, Virginia prepared a Kimchi Bulgogi Burger made with a kimchi-mixed meat patty stacked with a generous amount of pork belly and kimchi.
The third finalist, Kim Dong-hyun from San Francisco offered the judges a K-mush K-asserole, a unique interpretation of a mushroom stew and bulgogi, grilled marinated beef.
Hector De Haro’s Kimchi Poseidon Waffle won first place.
