SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Korea Bizwire) – Here’s good news for travelers flying through South Korea.
Walkerhill Hotel announced Tuesday that it is opening Korea’s first “capsule hotel” on January 20 at Incheon International Airport – the nation’s hub for air travel.
Dubbed “Darak Hyu”, the hotel should be of interest to the airport’s transfer passengers, with a total of 60 rooms, and is located in the east and the west wings (30 each) of the airport’s Transportation Center.
The hotel will offer four types of rooms – single bedroom + shower, double bedroom + shower, single bedroom, and double bedroom – and a separate shared shower room will be available for guests in rooms with no shower option included. The single bedroom + shower option covers an area of 6.28 square meters, the company said.
Each room will have its own independent air conditioning and heating system, noise proofing, a wireless Internet connection, and a Bluetooth speaker, and the facility’s noise level will be kept below 40dB, which is equivalent to the typical noise level at a library.
In addition, Walkerhill equipped its new hotel with an IoT-integrated keyless system, which allows customers to make reservations, check out, and control room lighting and temperature using their smartphones.
Reservations will be open to the public starting January 1 via the hotel’s homepage (www.walkerhill.com/capsulehotel), and prices will range from 8,000 won ($6.71) to 13,000 won per hour, depending on the room type.
