SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — Krafton Inc., the South Korean game developer behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), announced Thursday that it will invest 100 billion won (about US$72 million) to build a high-performance GPU cluster as part of its transformation into an “AI-first” company.
The company unveiled its new long-term vision during an internal town hall session, Krafton Live Talk, where CEO Kim Chang-han declared that the company would “center its operations around agentic AI,” automating workflows and enabling employees to focus on creative and complex problem-solving tasks.
“Starting today, Krafton will move toward an AI-centered management system,” Kim said. “Our goal is to become a company that expands both individual growth and organizational challenges through AI.”
The “AI-first” initiative marks a strategic shift that positions artificial intelligence not as a support tool but as the core engine of innovation. Krafton plans to automate internal workflows, enhance research and development capabilities, and integrate AI-driven services into its gaming platforms.
To support this, the company will complete an integrated AI platform and data automation system by late 2026, establishing a companywide AI operations infrastructure. Beginning next year, Krafton will allocate roughly 30 billion won annually to help employees access and apply a variety of AI tools in their work.
In tandem with the technological investments, Krafton will overhaul its organizational structure — including human resources and collaboration systems — to align with AI-based operations. Its AI R&D division will adopt a new personnel framework designed to strengthen specialization and research depth.
The company said it plans to reinvest the time and resources saved through AI automation into new game development and experimental projects, fostering what it described as a “virtuous cycle” of AI-driven creativity.
“With the AI-first strategy, we aim to empower our people, enhance player experiences, and set new standards for AI innovation in the global gaming industry,” Kim said, adding that Krafton hopes to become “a reference model for AI-driven operations worldwide.”
