SEOUL, July 29 (Korea Bizwire) –Travelers to Japan this summer will be able to enjoy the wireless Internet through KT‘s Automatic Wi-Fi Roaming service. Korea’s largest telecom service provider said on July 28 that it has unveiled the Wi-Fi roaming service that allows the user to access affiliated Wi-Fi networks without entering an ID and password. To celebrate the service’s launch, KT will hold a promotional event.
The unlimited Wi-Fi roaming service is available at 10,000 won for three days. With the selection of a service set ID for the first login, the user can automatically connect with Wi-Fi networks without typing in an ID and password every time they log on.
KT has introduced the service in partnership with Japan’s NTT DoCoMo, with a pilot service being offered in China as well. In commemoration of the launch, KT is offering free Wi-Fi Roaming service for three days until August 31, for those customers subscribing to fixed-amount data roaming services (30,000 and 50,000 won subscribers).
In addition, those KT customers who plan to travel to Europe can enjoy 13 million Wi-Fi hotspots in 12 European countries for free through the “Fon Wi-Fi 15-day Pass” event. The promotional event has been prepared by Fon, one of the world’s largest Wi-Fi network operators, after it signed a partnership agreement with KT in May this year.
