SEOUL, Dec. 10 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean telecom giant KT Corp. said Wednesday it was launching a trial of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based digital transformation (DX) service for the restaurant industry in collaboration with local dining company Sun at Food Co.
The service allows restaurant customers to speak their requirements to a KT AI platform GiGa Genie device installed at the table. Once their voice order is placed, serving robots bring the food to their table.
Casual conversation and the Genie Music streaming service are also available through GiGa Genie.
Customers in a room installed with GiGa Genie can adjust the lighting and temperature through voice commands without having to ask for help from serving staff.
The second generation service was launched after KT upgraded its first generation AI serving robot that it showed at a franchise restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul in September.
KT developed the service jointly with Hyundai Robotics Co., a robotics unit of shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries Group in which it made an equity investment in June.
