SEONGNAM, Korea, Dec 20 (Korea Bizwire) – korea’s largest telecom company KT said on December 19 that it would launch “Magic Voice,” the service that combines voice recognition technology with its “All-IP” service, jointly with Internet portal Daum Communications. With the Magic Voice service, the user can listen to music that best matches her state of mind by telling the machine, for example, “Play an uplifting song.” Then the machine linked to KT’s Genie music service recommends fitting songs out of 64 different genres.
In addition, Magic Voice can provide locational information upon the user’s voice command like “Tell me a nice Vietnamese restaurant near Gangnam Station.” It also offers services like news, weather forecast, and stock quotes. The company will provide the service to the subscribers of its “SmartHome Phone HD Mini” first, followed by other customers in stages.
Kim Hyung-wook, KT’s Product Division head, said, “With the Magic Voice service, our customers will find it much more convenient to use KT’s digital content. In the future the service will be expanded to the subscribers of Olleh TV and smartphone users.”
