Hosted by the Korean Tourism Organization and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the awards pick best tourism assets and services in Korea and promote them to the public in Korea and elsewhere. The cable car in Tongyoung, South Gyeongsang Province, was given high marks for accessibility as it has made it easy for the handicapped, senior citizens, and pregnant women to get on and off the cable car. Its public bathrooms and parking spaces were designed for easy access by the physically challenged.

“New Naeilro, Gicharo” (loosely translated as “Take the train toward tomorrow”), a travel guidebook detailing train schedules and information on what-to-do and restaurants, was picked as an excellent information source for travelers. Odong-jae, a traditional lodging service in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, was given high marks for its beautiful ocean view and the interior created with cypress tree. Jukdo Market in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, is one of the largest conventional markets in the nation. Thanks to a recent effort by the city authorities and the merchants, the market can now offer more to see and buy.
