SEOUL, June 8 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean actor Lee Min-ho will play the male lead in “Bounty Hunters,” a South Korea-China co-production project aiming for the Asian movie market, his management agency said Monday.
The upcoming film is an action-comedy blockbuster about bounty hunters who capture fugitives for monetary rewards in various Asian countries such as South Korea, China and Thailand. The filming is set to begin in August.
Some 35 billion won (US$31 million) from South Korea, China and Hong Kong will be injected into the project.
Shin Tae-ra, best known for the 2009 Korean hit “My Girlfriend Is an Agent,” will direct the flick.
Lee will play a figure who is smart and has good martial arts skills, but is unpredictable and cute.
“Top-tier Chinese actresses are in line to be the heroine of the film,” Star House Entertainment said.
Lee, meanwhile, is actively considering appearing in domestic TV dramas, according to the agency.
