SEOUL, Nov. 21 (Korea Bizwire) – Last Saturday, LG Electronics experienced a rapid sell-out of 300 limited edition Standby Me Go units within just nine minutes of their release on the company’s online brand shop. This exclusive release was in celebration of the LG Twins baseball club’s Korean Series victory, led by LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, marking the team’s first title in 29 years. The Champion Edition Standby Me Go features the series championship emblem digitally printed on the device.
Due to the special significance attached to the number 29 by fans, LG Electronics has responded with the LG Win-Win Festival, offering discounts and giveaways on various home appliances. On November 21, the company is set to provide a 29 percent discount on select models available on its online brand shop.
The discounted items include four TV models, stackable washers and dryers, stylers, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, kimchi fridges (two models), dishwashers, electric ranges (two models), and air purifiers, each with a limited quantity of 500 units per product group. The sale begins at 10 a.m., with a one-product limit per person.
In response to LG’s celebratory discounts, Samsung Electronics is also joining the festivities. Samsung.com will host a “Korea Sale Festa Special Sale” with even more substantial discounts to attract consumers. The promotion includes 30 percent off the standard price for 11 models of six popular home appliances, such as washing machines, air conditioners, dishwashers, air purifiers, TVs, and gaming monitors.
Samsung has implemented various discounts, ranging from 20 to 40 percent depending on the product. Additional perks include up to a 47 percent discount when purchasing two or more items, up to 100,000 won off when downloading Samsung.com apps, and up to 900,000 won off when paying with a Samsung Card for a month during the ‘Samsung Week Black Friday’ event.
A noteworthy highlight is Samsung’s ‘TV Super Big Festa,’ offering extra discounts on TVs and a complimentary 6-month subscription to TVING Premium and Samsung CarePlus.
Furthermore, simultaneous discounts on home appliances and mobile products will continue at online and offline stores through the Samsung Sale Closing Star early next year.
An industry official noted, “Both Samsung and LG have been grappling with sluggish TV sales in the home appliance industry. The year-end sale is anticipated to alleviate the burden by clearing inventory.”
