SEOUL, March 31 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Chem Ltd. South Korea’s leading chemical company, and CJ Logistics Co., the country’s No. 1 parcel delivery firm, said Wednesday that they will establish a resource circulation system to promote the reuse and recycling of cosmetics containers in collaboration with local reusable packaging startup Innerbottle.
Innerbottle will produce cosmetics containers made of plastic materials supplied by LG Chem.
The used containers will be collected by CJ Logistics to be recycled in a raw material form by LG Chem and Inner Bottle.
Consumers can request a product refill through Innerbottle’s online cosmetic refill store Ireon, and then leave the used product in front of the door of their homes.
CJ Logistics’ courier will collect the used product and deliver the refilled product.
After being collected, the internal silicone pouch that contains the contents is discarded and only the outer plastic container is reused after a cleaning by Innerbottle.
Among the collected external containers, ones that are difficult to be recycled will be purchased and processed as a clean raw material by LG Chem.
