SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Display Co., a major display panel maker, said Monday that it had developed an innovative sound solution for vehicles using a film-type vibration exciter.
The company’s unique film-type exciter technology allows the new device to vibrate off display panels and various materials inside the car body.
The size of the sound solution for vehicles is similar to that of a passport measuring 150 mm x 90 mm, with its thickness similar to that of a 500-won coin (2.5 millimeters).
At only 40 grams, it is 70 percent lighter than a conventional automobile speaker.
If the new sound solution is used in automobiles, the devices will serve as invisible speakers, enabling greater space and design utilization by freeing up the space normally occupied by in-car speakers.
Thanks to their compact size and innovative form factor, the new devices can be installed in various locations inside the car where it was previously difficult to install speakers, therefore contributing to eliminating deviation in audio quality for passengers inside.
They also offer users a rich, 3D immersive sound experience.
