SEOUL, Aug. 13 (Korea Bizwire) – In an innovative marketing move, LG Electronics has debuted a survival reality show called “House of Survival” on Amazon Prime Video, the company announced on August 13.
The show aims to highlight the unique customer experience and convenience offered by LG’s artificial intelligence-enabled home appliances.
“House of Survival” is an original content series produced by LG, featuring six episodes centered around the theme of a “home appliance show without home appliances.” The reality program attracted approximately 900 applicants, from which eight final contestants were selected through interviews and in-depth psychological assessments.
Participants face unusual challenges, such as finding matching socks in a mountain of mismatched pairs or baking muffins while blindfolded. Through these tasks, contestants earn home appliances and survival necessities to furnish an empty house.
The show follows a typical reality format with contestants voted off each episode, culminating in a grand prize of $100,000 for the winner.
Throughout the series, participants interact with various LG appliances, experiencing their AI-driven features. For instance, contestants use the LG WashCombo, which combines washing and drying functions, and enjoy cocktails with premium round ice cubes produced by LG refrigerators’ Craft Ice feature.
Other LG products featured include dishwashers and clothing care systems, all designed to reduce household chores. Contestants also familiarize themselves with LG’s smart home platform, the LG ThinQ app.
“House of Survival” will be available on Prime Video and LG Channels in North and South America, and later this month on LG Channels in South Korea. LG Channels is a free content platform pre-installed on LG webOS TVs.
Ryu Ju-hyun, head of H&A Brand Communication at LG Electronics, stated, “As contestants fill the empty house with appliances, viewers will see how LG’s AI appliances provide unique convenience and enable a premium lifestyle.”
