LAS VEGAS/SEOUL, Jan. 9 (Korea Bizwire) —  LG Electronics is poised to turn a profit from its artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives by the end of this year, according to Lee Hyang-eun, Senior Vice President of HS CX.

Speaking at the “LG AI Home Briefing” during CES 2025, Lee outlined the company’s progress in monetizing its AI projects.

“Meaningful AI-driven revenues will begin this year,” Lee stated in response to inquiries about LG’s AI business roadmap.

LG has made AI a cornerstone of its innovation strategy, showcasing the “Q9″ mobile AI home hub at CES 2024 and the “ThinQ On” AI home hub device at IFA 2024. This year, the company unveiled its “Mobile eXperience (MX) Platform,” extending its AI solutions to vehicles and creating personalized mobile living spaces.

While ThinQ On’s release was delayed and has yet to generate revenue, Lee confirmed that the Q9 is slated for full-scale launch by year-end, and the MX Platform will soon begin yielding income through subscription fees and solution-based services.

“We expect profits once these products hit the market,” Lee explained, noting that revenue generation timelines will vary depending on whether they are business-to-business (B2B) or business-to-consumer (B2C) solutions.

“It typically takes two to three years from initial concept to profitability, as seen with our modular smart home ‘Smart Cottage,’ which began generating sales three years after its debut at IFA 2024.”

Addressing Competition from Chinese AI Robotics

Lee also commented on the emergence of AI robotics from Chinese companies like TCL and Hisense, which showcased their offerings at CES 2025.

“China’s speed is remarkable,” she acknowledged, adding, “They’ve made efforts to differentiate themselves while following similar directions.”

Despite the competition, Lee remained confident in LG’s leadership. “As frontrunners, we are focused on widening the gap with competitors. The fact that others are adopting similar approaches underscores the significance of LG’s innovation efforts.”

Driving Future Innovation

LG’s commitment to AI underscores its ambition to lead in both the consumer and industrial technology sectors. With a lineup of advanced AI solutions and a focus on differentiation in the face of growing competition, the company aims to cement its role as a pioneer in the rapidly evolving AI market.
