SEOUL, Sept. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Uplus Corp., South Korea’s third-largest mobile carrier, has unveiled a new home training service called Cocore Gym that enables users to exercise and check biometric information through their TV at home as well as to compete with other users.
The new home training service operates through a connection between the company’s Uplus Home Training Now IPTV service and smartwatches.
The service displays the user’s heart rate and the number of calories burned on their TV, while providing a ranking of burned calories for connected users on a real-time basis.
LG Uplus said that the new service helps users exercise by stimulating the sense of competition, just like people compare treadmill speed and the weight of dumbbells with others at a fitness center.
Cocore Gym is available through UHD3-plus Uplus TV set-top boxes and Android OS-embedded Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5.
After a free trial period of three months starting from Sept. 5, it will turn into a paid service.
