SEOUL, Feb. 27 (Korea Bizwire) — A Seoul hospital has become the first medical institution in South Korea to enable nurses to input and store medical records via voice recordings in real time.
The Catholic University of Korea Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital unveiled the Vobile (voice + mobile) electronic nursing record (ENR) system that allows nurses to input medical records by voice recordings if they have a smartphone installed with the namesake app.
For instance, if nurses talk to patients who need a blood transfusion, the artificial intelligence (AI)-based smartphone app converts their speech into text and automatically stores the recording in an electronic nursing record system.
In addition, this system also allows nurses to instantly record patients’ medical information such as blood pressure and blood sugar levels without having to write anything down.
The hospital’s in-house analysis showed that the accuracy level of the speech records stood at 94 percent.
In the case of blood transfusion work, this technology can help nurses reduce the time needed to check patients and blood transfusion packs by up to 50 percent compared to existing methods.
In addition, it also can enhance work safety through real-time certification and data input, the hospital said.
