SEOUL, Dec. 28 (Korea Bizwire) — A nationwide initiative in the logistics industry will see handles added to delivery boxes to help delivery personnel carry them.
CJ Logistics, Lotte Global Logistics and other major logistics firms joined hands with the Ministry of Employment and Labor to add handles to some 670,000 delivery boxes next year.
Coupang, SSG, Market Kurly, and other online retailers will also join the initiative to add handles to some 475,000 boxes next year.
The handles will be added by making a hole on both sides of the delivery box. These holes will be made for boxes weighing more than 5 kilograms.
Rope or other alternatives will be used to add handles for delivery boxes carrying refrigerated products and other fragile goods.
Adding handles to delivery boxes reduced approximately 10 percent of the load from a person’s back, the government explained.
