SEOUL, Sept. 10 (Korea Bizwire) — The American city of Los Angeles designated “Squid Game Day” in recognition of the global mega-hit Korean drama’s impact on American popular culture.
John Lee, a Korean American member of the Los Angeles City Council, announced that the council passed a resolution last week designated Sept. 17 as Squid Game Day.
Sept. 17 is the date when “Squid Game” was released worldwide last year.
The resolution said, “‘Squid Game’ marks another victory in the fight to grow representation of the AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) community in film and entertainment, exposing audiences to Korean culture and traditions while paving the way for other AAPI communities to also have their stories told.”
