Lotte Tower Hosts Vertical “Sky Run” Marathon

SEOUL, May 9 (Korea Bizwire)Lotte Property and Development announced yesterday that a vertical marathon (sky run) will take place on May 13 at Lotte World Tower in Jamsil, Seoul.

The race will see participants run up a total of 2,917 steps from the first floor to the observation deck situated on the 123rd story, 555 meters above the ground.

A total of 1,500 participants – both domestic and international – will compete for the grand prize trophy. There will be separate categories for professional and amateur runners.

Cash prizes totaling 10 million won will be given out to six finalists in the professional athlete category, and the top three finishers of both genders.

The first prize winner in the amateur division will receive a 1.23 million won Lotte Department Store gift voucher.

After administration expenses are covered, the remaining proceeds will be donated to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation to be used to help nurture young athletes.

The Lotte World Tower Sky Run is the highest run in the Vertical World Circuit certified by the International Skyrunning Federation, with the greatest numbers of steps to climb.

The winner of last year’s run was Mark Borne of Australia, who came in first with a time of 15 minutes and 44 seconds.
