Marine Corps Opens New Year with Training

POHANG, Jan. 3 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s Marine Corps opened 2023 with vigorous training to strengthen their capability of mission completion and combat readiness.

The 1st Marine Division on Monday performed a variety of training exercises around its stronghold in the southeastern city of Pohang despite the cold weather.

Amid freezing sea wind and high tidal waves, about 350 soldiers and 17 indigenously developed amphibious assault vehicles carried out landing assault training at the marine training site.

After landing the shore with armored vehicles, they implemented various tactics such as landing combat and target acquisition.

“We have carried out training every time when the new year comes. As such, we’re doing training this year too,” a Marine Corps official said.
