SEOUL, June 8 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s military has developed new technology for the automatic generation of navigation software for guided weapons and unmanned aircraft on the basis of the concept of module assembly.
The state-run Agency for Defense Development (ADD) said Tuesday it had independently secured navigation software development technology designed to automatically create navigation software needed for new weapon systems.
The newly-developed technology quickly creates navigation software tailored for each weapon system by assembling software components into Lego block concepts.
Existing navigation software was developed for each weapon system, so the development period was relatively long and the same functions were developed redundantly, or it was difficult to improve performance.
The ADD analyzed navigation software applied to various existing systems by applying a software product line technology used in civilian areas and classified subfunctional elements into common parts and specialized parts in order to design an architecture that integrates them.
In addition, navigation algorithms or software components for a variety of data processing were realized in the form of Lego block concept components.
