SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — The defense ministry’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution task force marked its first anniversary last Thursday.
So far, the task force has distributed 120 million vaccines, covering a distance of more than 9 million kilometers across the country in the process.
The task force has deployed 52,000 military and police vehicles, staffed by more than 140,000 people. It has also deployed 34 military divisions and 207 brigades for vaccine distribution.
The task force mobilized military transport aircraft, helicopters and private vessels to send vaccines to Ulleung and Baekryeong islands, as well as other islands without doctors.
The task force ran a military-led situation room to identify real-time obstacles and problems, preventing some 190,000 doses of vaccine from being scrapped.
