SEOUL, July 5 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s military is joining hands with IT representatives to train technology specialists.
The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Science and ICT announced Tuesday that they will start a joint artificial intelligence (AI) and software training program for military personnel, aimed at developing 1,000 military specialists for the future of military science and another 50,000 trainees by 2026 who will help the industry after their discharge.
The defense ministry has been offering special training programs on AI development for military staff at Sungkyunkwan University, Chung-Ang University and other graduate schools specializing in AI technology.
The ICT ministry will begin offering training programs on AI and software development for soldiers online.
The defense ministry will improve educational facilities at test sites to ensure an optimum environment for military education and sign an agreement with the private sector to invite entrepreneurs for mentoring programs and visit companies.
Amazon Web Service (AWS) Korea will establish ties with the 7th Airforce Communication Service Group, Microsoft Korea with the Marine Corps, Kakao Enterprise with the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, Naver with the Army’s 5th Corps, KT with the Defense Communication Command and Elice with the Navy’s 7th Task Flotilla.
