SEOUL, May 13 (Korea Bizwire) – The Ministry of the Interior (MOI) is developing a prototype analysis model based on big data information gathered from local governments that could reshape the way administrative work is conducted in South Korea.
The MOI is set to embark on a big data project this year that will be used to help connect local businesses and job seekers, analyze information regarding local tax default and detect leaks in waterworks, the government branch said yesterday.
The analytical standard model refers to the process of optimizing data collection analysis in accordance with one analysis model in a field of work, which is expected to help raise productivity.
The findings from the analysis process could also be used as evidence to support government policy proposals or administrative decisions.
The MOI’s new project will see an analysis model developed in a total of ten different fields of work, ranging from the placement of ambulances and allotment of volunteers to road safety management.
Last year, the MOI launched a similar project dealing with tourism, CCTV and labor supervision.
“We plan to establish a big data analysis model which can be adopted in the field of public administration, with further plans to apply the model to other branches of the government in order to establish a data-based scientific administrative system in the country,” an official from the MOI said.
