SEOUL, Oct. 1 (Korea Bizwire)It is expected that part-timers will be able to write work contracts on their smartphones in the future.

This is a measure to protect teenage part-time workers from the harm and damage they might be subject to for not signing a contract.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family said Monday that it will implement a “Service to Draw up a Mobile Work Contract.”

The advantage of mobile work contracts is that they can be easily written, easily stored, and opened anytime, anywhere.

Working youth or employers with teenage workers will use the service to draw up mobile work contracts through Kakao Account #1388 operated by the government’s youth work protection center.

According to a government survey last year, 61.6 percent of part-time teenagers did not sign a work contract.

In addition, the center plans to provide 1,000 additional “visiting labor and human rights education programs” to youth support centers, youth shelters and middle and high schools by the end of this year.

It will also distribute a guidebook with information about youth employment, related laws and how to write and sign a contract, in cooperation with private organizations such as the nationwide Youth Detrimental Environment Monitoring groups.

“There needs to be social attention and efforts to improve working conditions for youth, who are relatively more vulnerable to infringement of working rights than their elders,” a government official said.
