SEOUL, July 8 (Korea Bizwire) – In the first half of the year, private creators showed a marked improvement on YouTube as non-celebrity channels have been attracting more subscribers.
Global video streaming site YouTube released the top 20 Korean YouTube channels with the highest growth in the number of subscribers on July 7. Among the members of the 20 were nine private channels, four more than last year’s five channels, showing the newfound popularity of privately created content on YouTube.
Among the non-celebrity YouTube channels, gaming and makeup and beauty channels maintained their popularity. “Office Worker A’s Daily Beauty” (YouTube ID: calarygirl), a channel promoting various beauty tips ranked 11th, while game creator “Yangting” (YouTube ID: d7297ut) and dance team Waveya (YouTube ID: waveya2011) followed in 12th and 13th respectively.
In addition, non-celebrity creators gained subscribers in various fields including cooking, toys and daily life blogging.
Meanwhile, SMTOWN ranked first, followed by BIGBANG (2nd) and 1theK (3rd).
