SEOUL, Jun. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — With summer around the corner, fashionistas are preparing to bare their shoulders as the “off-the-shoulder” look is set to become the hottest trend this season.
Online shopping website Gmarket revealed yesterday that demand for off-the-shoulder clothing products for women increased sixfold last month compared to the same period last year.
Sales of off-the-shoulder blouses grew by more than 15 percent, while shoulder-revealing dresses grew by a staggering 578 percent.
Backless and strapless bra products typically worn in tandem with off-the-shoulder clothing also saw a rise in sales of 17 percent, while sales of massage products that help women achieve attractive necklines and shoulder lines grew by 21 percent.
Tattoo stickers worn on the collarbone and shoulder have also become very popular, along with body makeup that helps add luster to one’s skin.
Local fashion houses have started to launch garments that reflect the new summer trend.
Shinsegae International’s clothing brand VOV has released beach-friendly ruffle dresses in a variety of colors.
The bright-colored dresses with various floral patterns have an off-the-shoulder twist that will definitely keep women cool in the sweltering summer heat.
LF’s clothing line a.t. corner is featuring a summer look with tropical patterns on its off-the-shoulder tops matched with jeans, Samsung C&T’s Kuho brand is showing off its sophisticated styling with a blue off-the-shoulder blouse and casual denim pants.
An official at Gmarket said that shoulder massage products and body contouring makeup will be all the rage this summer as sales of off-the-shoulder clothing take off.
“Since summer is here, Gmarket will be showcasing styles that are more revealing,” said the official in comments about summer trends.
