One in Three South Koreans Have Tried ChatGPT: Poll

SEOUL, March 21 (Korea Bizwire)One out of three South Koreans have tried artificial intelligence (AI)-based chatbot system ChatGPT, and the level of reliability on the outcomes was relatively high, a poll showed Monday.

According to a survey of 1,016 adults from across the country conducted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 30.2 percent said that they had tried ChatGPT at least once or twice.

By age, members of Generation X showed the highest usage rate at 42.2 percent, followed by millennials and Generation Z at 40.2 percent, and baby boomers at 29.2 percent.

In response to a question asking if they trusted the outcome of the results, the largest share of the respondents, 62.1 percent, said the results were passable.

The share of those who said the outcome of the results was reliable stood at 27.4 percent, higher than others who said they did not trust the results (10.5 percent).

Information search was cited as the most useful function of ChatGPT at 50.7 percent, followed by new ideas at 15.3 percent, composition and ghostwriting at 11.9 percent, coding at 11.3 percent and summarizing at 7.9 percent.
