SEOUL, Dec. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — A recent survey revealed that people face fake news mainly through online videos uploaded via new media like YouTube.
The Korea Press Foundation carried out a survey of 1,000 South Korean adults to find out the main sources of fake news.
In response to a question asking about the main channel where they encounter fake news, the largest share of the respondents pointed to online videos.
Seven out of ten respondents said yes to a question asking if YouTube was one of the channels in which they encountered fake news.
As for who is responsible for the fake news problem, the largest share of the respondents said celebrities, including politicians, who upload inaccurate information on their social media accounts.
In the meantime, the lowest share of the respondents agreed with the statement that South Korea’s news media have nothing to do with fake news.
