SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — A skating rink will open at the Seoul Plaza this week, the Seoul city government said Wednesday.
The rink, which will be open through Feb. 11, will operate from 10 a.m. through 9:30 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, and it will extend the operation hours to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and during the holidays, according to the city.
The admission fee is 1,000 won (US$0.77), and safety equipment, including helmets and knee pads, can be rented free of charge. Visitors can also pay a small fee to rent winter clothing or get access to lockers.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for 5:40 p.m. Friday, will feature a performance by Rapercussion, a percussion ensemble, followed by a congratulatory speech by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and a figure skating performance.
This year’s skating rink will present 24 little houses set up across the Seoul Plaza under the theme of winter festival spaces.
