SEOUL, Korea, July 23 (Korea Bizwire) – The outdoor gear market is growing at a rapid clip. For the past several years, the camping population has increased to the 2-million level, with the market for camping equipment including the tent, barbecue grill, and other equipment rising to the tune of 600 billion won.
Nepa, one of Korea’s major outdoor gear suppliers, recently said that its newly introduced canopy tents “Screen Shade” and “Wide Viewer” have been sold out within a few weeks after launch.
Kim Jong-won, Nepa’s manager in charge of camping goods sales, said, “As more and more people take to the mountains and beaches, families with cars go out nearby riverside camp sites or parks whenever they have a chance. Given many local communities are vying to create camp-friendly sites, we expect the sale of canopy tents to rise further.”
Picnic-style camping requires a fewer number of equipment than full-scale camping, with each item costing less. In addition to the canopy tents, Nepa has marketed other must-have items for picnickers such as the “Picnic Rug,” the plastic mat for family outing, the “Folding Table,” and the “Party Cooler.”
