SEOUL, Jan. 30 (Korea Bizwire) — Major computer manufacturers are rolling out new laptop models for 2025, with artificial intelligence capabilities taking center stage as a key differentiator in the marketplace.
According to a recent Dell report on workplace PC usage and AI PC outlook, users particularly value AI PCs for their ability to handle AI-related tasks like real-time translation more efficiently than conventional computers, while also boosting overall workplace productivity.
Samsung Electronics launched its AI PC, the Galaxy Book5 Pro, in South Korea on January 2. The device features Intel’s Core Ultra processor series 2 (codename Lunar Lake), which supports neural processing capabilities of up to 47 TOPS (trillion operations per second) to ensure stable AI performance.
The Galaxy Book5 Pro distinguishes itself by offering both Samsung’s proprietary Galaxy AI and Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC features. A standout AI function is AI Select, which enables users to drag and search text or images while browsing, extract text, translate content, and execute QR codes.
This feature is expected to particularly benefit college students and office workers who frequently need to extract text from PDF lecture materials or search presentation content during video conferences.
LG Electronics simultaneously unveiled its 2025 LG Gram lineup. The company offers models equipped with both Intel’s Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake processors, providing consumers with more choices.
A key AI feature is AI Search, which can search through text within documents and images stored on the PC, even without network connectivity. Users also get one year of free access to OpenAI’s GPT-4 Omni-based services.
Dell Technologies plans to launch its new AI PC line, Dell Plus, featuring Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors, in South Korea on February 18, with AMD processor variants to follow later. The company has emphasized the device’s suitability for multitasking across entertainment, learning, and work applications.
Apple’s latest MacBook Pro, released in late 2024, features the company’s M4 series chip, enabling stable operation of its Apple Intelligence AI model. The new model offers up to 1.8 times faster gigapixel photo editing compared to its predecessor.
Apple Intelligence includes writing assistance tools, Siri voice assistant, and image generation capabilities, with additional features expected to roll out in the coming months.
HP’s Omnibook Ultra Flip, launched last year, offers a versatile AI PC experience with its ability to transform between laptop, tablet, and tent modes, powered by Intel’s Core Ultra processor series 2.
Manufacturers are currently offering special discounts for new employees and students starting the academic year. Samsung is running its Galaxy Academy Festa promotion until March 31, offering benefits on notebooks, PCs, tablets, smartphones, and wearables.
LG is providing discount coupon packages for verified university students and graduate students, while Apple’s education promotion, running until March 13, includes discounted Macs and iPads, with free AirPods or Apple Pencils for eligible purchases.
