“In my first book Les Fourmis I wanted to explore questions like ‘Who are we?’ ‘What is evolution?’ ‘What position do we take in the whole universe?’”

“In my latest novel TroisièmeHumanité, I described Korea as a country with state-of-the-art technology and I really believe it would position itself as a technology leader within a foreseeable future. But Korea will fail if it tries to develop technology without a concurrent effort to use technology in correct ends.”

“I was so impressed that so many Koreans have a high level of educational attainment. Even though excessive competition to get to that high level may accompany stress and pressure, it may be a small price to pay to be successful.”

“The single most important question I ask in all of my books is “Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?” To this question, I would answer we came from darkness and our final destination is to the light.”

“What’s most important out of past, present, and future is by far present and we all need to consciously think about the present all the time.”

SEOUL, Sep. 30 (Korea Bizwire) – Bernard Werber, a French science fiction writer much loved by Korean readers, will appear on “This Morning,” a TBS eFM radio program (101.3 MHz), from 8:10 am on September 30. He said before the radio interview he was glad that his books are popular among so many future-oriented Korean readers.

He also said in his first book “Les Fourmis” (translated into English as Empire of the Ants) he wanted to explore questions like “Who are we?” “What is evolution?” “What position do we take in the whole universe?” which were indeed questions he had in his childhood when he observed ants.

In the latest novel “TroisièmeHumanité,” (literally translated as Third Humanity), he described Korea as a country with state-of-the-art technology and he really believes it would position itself as a technology leader within a foreseeable future. He warned, however, the nation will fail if it tries to develop technology without an effort to use technology in correct ends.

Werber showed amazement to the fact that so many Koreans have a high level of educational attainment. Even though excessive competition to get to that high level may accompany stress and pressure, he said, it may be a small price to pay to be successful.

He also said the ultimate goal of our life is pursuit of happiness. The single most important question he asks in all of his books is “Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?” To this question, he said, “I would answer we came from darkness and our final destination is to the light.” He stressed that what’s most important out of past, present, and future is by far present and we all need to consciously think about the present all the time.

“This Morning” on Korea’s first 24-hour English radio station is hosted by Alex Jensen, a current affairs commentator from London. It is aired for two hours between 7 and 9 am from Monday to Friday.
