SEOUL, Dec. 14 (Korea Bizwire) – A group representing pork producers has introduced a number of tender pork recipes to boost sales, as the ‘silver food’ market for elderly customers continues to grow in South Korea.

Korea Pork and the Korean Dietetic Association unveiled a number of pork recipes catering to seniors, hospital patients and children lacking protein during an event held at Lotte Department Store in Myeongdong on Wednesday.

Some 10 dishes were promoted including sirloin steak, pork wellington, and Korean pork salad, all of which were made tender and soft for those with weak teeth to enjoy.

Using sous-vide cooking, which cooks meat for a long time to preserve its taste, juiciness and nutrition, pork can be a great source of protein for seniors and those with weaker digestive systems, the pork interest group said.

According to Korea Pork, meat is the most popular source of protein among elderly people. However, tough meat is hard to consume, particularly for children and old people who don’t have strong teeth.

The push for tender pork dishes comes amid growing demand for silver food in the country, with the market projected to reach 1 trillion won in the near future.

The newly developed recipes are set to be shared with nutritionists through the Korean Dietetic Association and will also be published on the organization’s official website to help boost pork consumption.

Chestnut Apple Stuffing – this will be my fourth year in a row making this stuffing. I look forward to this stuffing more than anything else, really. I’ve been known to sneak bites of it straight from the fridge, it’s just so good
