SEOUL, March 16 (Korea Bizwire) — Posco Daewoo Corp., a major South Korean trading company, said Friday that it has clinched a US$60 mln order to provide a ship design and materials package to Peru’s state-run shipyard Servicios Industriales de la Marina (SIMA) for the building a multi-purpose vessel.
The company said it will receive a ship design and materials from Daesun Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., a small South Korean shipbuilder, before supplying them to SIMA.
The trading company said technical officials of Daesun Shipbuilding & Engineering will also train Peruvians in the building of the SIMA ship.
The ship, once launched, will be used for rescuing people and transporting emergency supplies in disaster situations, according to Posco Daewoo.
