DAEGU, Jan.21 (Korea Bizwire) – New technology that will allow for pregnancy tests to be completed on smartphones is expected to be commercialized during the latter part of the year.
The Daeju Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation (DGMIF) signed an agreement with Jongno Medical Appliances to transfer the technology as a means to commercialize mobile health care technologies.
Equipment will be connected to smartphones to diagnose pregnancy. By photographing saliva with a smartphone equipped with a microscope, pregnancy test results can be obtained by evaluating ovulatory cycles.
Over the next six months, the DGMIF will commercialize the technology developed by Jongno Medical Appliances.
A small microscope will be mounted onto a smartphone, and an application that measures and saves ovulatory cycle information will be developed.
The Medical Appliance Center will decipher the results of the test and save the data, providing ovulation alarms and schedules.
Officials at the DGMIF comment that the technology is an outstanding development that could help overcome low birthrates. “Since the mobile health care market is showing rapid growth, we are accelerating the development process.”
