SEOUL, Feb. 27 (Korea Bizwire) — “Captain Marvel” is gearing up for one of the strongest-ever openings for any of Marvel’s solo superhero movies in South Korea.
According to data from the Korean Film Council, the superhero movie already surpassed 100,000 in the number of presold tickets on Wednesday morning with six days left before its release in local theaters.
It became the fastest Marvel solo movie to top the 100,000 mark in presales, the film’s local distributor Walt Disney Company Korea said.
“Black Panther” passed the threshold five days before its opening in 2018, “Doctor Strange” three days before it opened in 2016 and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” two days ahead of its release in 2017.
“Captain Marvel,” the 21st entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, depicts the birth of new hero, Captain Marvel, who rises as the last hope of the Avengers.
The movie will open in South Korea on March 6 for the first time in the world. The North American release is set for two days later.
