SEOUL, Feb. 20 (Korea Bizwire) – The popularity of travel-themed reality shows has significantly increased interest in the destinations featured, leading to a surge in search volumes for flights to these locations, according to travel search engine Skyscanner. The platform reported a notable rise in searches for destinations that have appeared in various travel shows.

The most significant increase was observed for flights to Madagascar, likely influenced by the show “Adventure by Accident,” featuring webtoon creator Kian84.

Skyscanner’s data indicates that from the show’s premiere on November 26 last year until January 31 this year, flight searches from Korea to Madagascar soared by 742% compared to the same period the previous year, with searches specifically for the capital, Antananarivo, up by 532%.

Currently, the most affordable round-trip flights from Korea to Antananarivo, with two stopovers, are priced at approximately 1.63 million won.

Taiwan also saw a dramatic increase in flight searches, possibly due to its feature in episodes of “I Live Alone,” where guests embarked on a culinary seminar trip to the island.

From December 15 to January 31, searches for flights from Korea to Taiwan grew by 137% year-on-year, with searches for Taichung flights up by 94%. The cheapest direct round-trip flights are around 250,000 won.

The collaboration between renowned producer Na Young-seok and the group Seventeen in “Nana Tour with Seventeen” also led to an uptick in searches for flights to Italy.
